Travel

For the beach bum:

West (near Sóller & Deià)

Port de Sóller – Sandy, calm waters, restaurants nearby. Family-friendly.

Cala Deià – Rocky cove with clear water + seafood spots (ca's Patró March).

North/Northeast

Cala Formentor – Long sandy beach, pine shade, shallow water. Family-friendly.

Cala Sant Vicenç – Small coves with cliffs + clear seas. Great for snorkeling.

South/Southeast

Es Trenc – Wide sandy beach, turquoise water, dunes. Family-friendly.

Calo des Moro – Stunning hidden cove, cliff backdrop. Good for cliff diving / adventurous swimmers.

For a fun road trip

Idea 1: Sóller, Valldemossa & Deià Drive

Scenic loop through mountain villages—wander Sóller’s boutiques, stroll Valldemossa’s cobblestone streets, and end with sunset in Deià.

Valldemossa: Pastries at Ca’n Molinas + visit the 14th-c Cartoixa Monastery.

Deià: Lunch at Sa Foradada + swim at Cala Deià.

Idea 2: Cap de Formentor Adventure

Winding coastal drive to Mallorca’s dramatic northern tip with breathtaking views.

Stop at Mirador Es Colomer for panoramic cliffs.

Continue to Formentor Lighthouse.

Swim at Playa de Formentor, a pine-framed sandy beach.

For a good bike ride or hike

Hiking

Biniaraix → Fornalutx loop: ~2 hrs, moderate. Beautiful olive groves, cobbled paths, and mountain views.

Sóller → Port de Sóller (GR-221): ~2 hrs, easy/moderate. Classic downhill trail to the coast.

Longer option: Hike from Biniaraix up to Puig de l’Ofre or to Cala Tuent for a full-day adventure.

Biking

Coll de Sóller climb: Iconic 7.5 km switchback road with a café at the top (Ca’n Topa). Moderate-hard.

Deià–Valldemossa–Sóller loop: ~61 km, big climbs + stunning sea views. Great for strong riders.

Shorter loops: Fornalutx–Sóller–Port de Sóller (~20 km) or Sóller–Deià–Fornalutx (~40 km). Scenic with manageable climbs.

What else should we do or see?

Palma’s Old Town – Visit La Seu Cathedral, stroll the narrow streets, and enjoy tapas in the capital (La Paloma, Vermutería La Rosa, Tast Club, El Camino) - A drink at Nobis Hotel, or Abaco.

Wine Tasting – Bodegas Macià Batle (Santa Maria del Camí), Bodegas José L. Ferrer (Binissalem)

Sa Calobra & Torrent de Pareis – One of the island’s most dramatic drives ending in a gorge-side beach.

Caves of Drach (Porto Cristo) – Underground lake + magical cave formations, with a short classical music concert inside.

Local Food Experiences – Paella at Sa Foradada, pastries from Ca’n Molinas in Valldemossa, or seafood at a chiringuito by the sea.

Some of our personal favorite places in town- Restaurant Nama (southeast asian), De moniö (local coffee, bites and best pottery), have a drink at La Residencia before sunset!
